Happy Monday. I hope your week is off to an incredible start!
I’m whispering more these days and it is changing my mothering and my relationship with God…. for the better!
I lost my voice/had a sore throat for about 2 weeks… 🤒😷this left me utilizing the “mom whisper.”
You Mamas are familiar with this whisper 🗣… you try to convey the force and weight of what you’re saying into your words. These punctuated phrases are also littered with frequent eye brows raises and a head cock to emphasize the gravity of your words.
A funny thing happened when I was forced to use the “Mom whisper” for about 2 weeks… my kids actually listened🤣. Turns out all the times I thought they just couldn’t “hear” me were “bogus” #outsmartedbytoddlers 🤦🏻♀️
✅When I whisper my kids lean in to hear me instead of turning me out.
So I have been trying to whisper more in my parenting (this is a struggle for me🙊).
I think our natural tendency not just in parenting but in life, is to look for the answers in the noise, in the chaos or just add to the whirl of stimuli around us.
Elijah went looking for God’s voice in the wind 💨the earthquake and fire🔥- and found Him instead in the still small voice.
(1 Kings 19:11-13)
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shatteredthe rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
❤️If you are struggling to hear His voice, maybe He’s just inviting you to lean in today. To listen for the still, small voice.
✅But to do this you are going to have to live intentionally and counter culturally: ✅silence the notifications, delete an app or 20, get up early or turn off the podcast and listen.
What do you need to do TODAY to make space to hear His voice?💗
I am praying for you,
