Hey! Hey! Its Back to School Time. Please tell me its not just me?…. Every year around this time I want to buy myself new pencils, markers, crayons…and maybe a Trapper Keeper… Calling all the children of the 90’s….Anyone else have one of those? Mine was Lisa Frank and it was AWESOME…nothing was cooler in 1991 than Lisa Frank…NOTHING!!!!!!! Fortunately I now have kids and so its looks a little less weird for me to be frolicking through the crayon aisle at Target…We definitely bought some new markers, crayons and paint for our home art supplies this weekend. My kiddos started pre-school for the first time this summer…and although they supply all the school supplies there….bummer…I did get to shop for their back packs and lunch boxes and they aren’t old enough yet to argue with my choice too much.
They were SO NOT into these 1st day of school pics!!! But you can see their cute backpacks and lunch boxes!
I almost went with the more expensive PB backpacks that I have heard great things about, but when I saw these * backpacks on Amazon and read their great reviews I decided to give them a try because #budgetshopper #2dayshipping #Amazonprimemom Basically I love these backpacks*. Both my boys can carry them and the lunchbox fits in it. There is a spot on the side for their water bottle and the inside easily holds a change of clothes, their lunch box and for Finn his pull ups and wipes. They are perfect for a toddler doing Mother’s Day Out or Pre-School. I noticed they also have a big kid version as well. The pre-school size is the 12 inch.
The school supply aisle always reminds me of this sweet moment from You’ve Got Mail.
The first time I dropped off the boys at pre-school, I prayed for them in the car on the way there. Everyday since then, I try to remember to pray for them in the car as we drive there. If I ever forget to pray for their day Caden will always start yelling “Mom, Mom you forgot to pray for us!” I love this so much. I fervently believe that my prayers as a Momma are powerful and effective. As parents we have been given authority over our children and it is a joy to use my authority to provide a spiritual covering for them. Without fully understanding why, I think Caden has already realized that there is peace that comes into his heart when his authority (his mom or dad), has prayed over him and blessed his day. It is a blessing to be under healthy, Godly authority and to have that authority bless and intercede for us brings peace and power into our life!
This is the prayer that God put on my heart that first day and I wanted to share it with y’all. Not because its a perfect prayer or you should pray just like this. But sometimes if we are unsure how to pray for something, sometimes it helps to hear how other people are praying about a particular subject. If you have never thought about praying over your kids school days I encourage you to start this year! Even just a simple prayer as you drive will make such a powerful impact in their life. And it has helped my heart so much as I drop my kids off, every morning they are at pre-school I have to take a moment to surrender their lives to God, trusting that He is with them and caring for them even when I am not there. Praying for my kids in the morning, is a way I declare my trust and faith in God that He will take care of them. Its also a way that I co-labor with God (this is really what prayer is all about!) to advocate for my children’s protection, peace, joy and that they will walk into the fullness of their destiny.
Here’s the prayer. I put the text I pray in bold and put Bible verse in parenthesis next to parts of it to show you how the Word of God gives you the authority to pray this prayer.
Back 2 School Prayer.
Jesus, I thank you for my children. I thank you that they are men/women of peace, power and of purity. I ask that you would send your angels to surround them and protect them. (Psalm 91:11 For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.)
I ask that you would fill them afresh with your Holy Spirit and that they would be a blessing to their teachers and classmates today, bringing joy and peace to their classroom. (Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self -control).
I thank you that they are the head and not the tail. (Deuteronomy 28:13 The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, you will only move upward and never downward, if you hear and carefully follow the commandments of the Lord your God which I am giving you today.)
I thank you that they are on the offensive and not the defensive. (Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.)
I thank you that wherever they go they bring the Kingdom of God with them. (Matthew 13:11 Because it has been given to you to know the a]”>[a]mysteries of the kingdom of heaven)
I thank you that they have access to everything they need in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places) and that you have given them the mind of Christ to be able to learn well and to approach situations with wisdom. (1 Corinthians 2:16 “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.)
I ask that they would have an amazing day and feel your presence all day long. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
